About Mr. Chalk
Hi! My name is Mr. Chalk and I will be your 6th, 7th, or 8th grade social studies teacher this year. I found my love for teaching while attending Western Michigan University where I received my Bachelors of Arts in Education, receiving degrees in History, Social Studies, and Political Science. I am also currently pursuing a Masters in Special Education with a focus in learning disabilities.
I have been a Lancer now for 7 years and it has been a very exciting path for me. The door opened when I was hired as the athletic director here at MS-C. I enjoyed that position so much that I stuck with it to this day! I now find myself teaching students that have changed my life, and I hope they will feel the same about me. I currently teach 6, 7th, and 8th grade social studies.
I am married to my wife Meghan and we have a 14 month old named Benjamin. We moved over the summer which was exciting but a lot of work. All summer long I have been trying to escort bats out of my attic and it has been a battle!
I have high expectations for all of my students during the course of this year. We will be partaking in numerous examinations of world geography and human history that will require cooperation among peers, the use of technology, and strong effort when it comes to individual responsibility in completing assignments and tasks. My social studies courses, depending if you are in 6th, 7thy, or 8th grade, will open your eyes to the cultures, geography, and history of the world and the people that inhabit it.
I am almost done with my Master's Degree with a focus in Learning Disabilities from Saginaw Valley State University. Besides teaching, taking classes, and spending time with my family, I do have some time for hobbies. I love to fish for all types of species in the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair. My family and I head up north to the Grayling area and even to the U.P. to spend time with relatives. I love to cook, travel, and read my Twitter feed. I am also an avid sports fan!
